Fodder: A Morgue of Notions and Grunts

I learned at an early age that columns provide some of the hardest writing a person can ever attempt.

Not only must a columnist provide fact, but a story line for people to follow. John Thompson taught me that it's an intricate process to do a column justice while I worked at the North Little Rock Times. While my portfolio documents my published articles, "Fodder" documents Perpetual Notions, i.e. published and previously unpublished thoughts on existence, and Grunts, i.e. thoughts about the Razorbacks.

Occassionally, life requires that we write to remove the bitterness that confronts us. Or maybe it's to keep from being overwhelmed by the joy we find ourselves experiencing. Sometimes, it's just that you've got to give a perspective that may never be taken seriously, but it needs to be out there anyway.

I don't expect everyone to agree with my thoughts, but not everyone has lived the life I have. Granted, some articles in the portfolio could be considered editorials, as when I provide opinions to review music. But hopefully, people understand the difference. If not, I don't know what else to do to explain it to them. C'est la vie.

You can keep up with the current Perpetual Notions and Grunts at my blog, but here's some from the day.
