Assessing the Daily Koyannisqatsi
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety
deserve neither liberty nor safety"
Ben Franklin

Sitron
Welcome to e-Media, the writer's linkbox used to track the daily Koyaanisqatsi, a Hopi word meaning "life out of balance."

Herein resides the primary links pages of Sitron's Post. This started as one links page back in 1997 (when the site was still known as Sitron's Fence), put together to keep up with hometown news. Well, it's morphed into something much bigger than originally anticipated.

Sitton uses this information for reporting, freelancing and teaching, e.g. posting news links to Comm-Stop, the site normally updated Tuesdays and Thursdays during the spring and fall semesters for students at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

A quick summary of what's available:

  • Lasagna — one-stop of Tanya's faves.
  • Wild Life — preparation for the great outdoors, including travel help
  • Arkansas — newspapers, magazines, radio, television, PR, campus media
  • Louisiana — newspapers, magazines, radio, television, PR, campus media
  • America — prestige press, national news, wires, regional media, broadcast, magazines, news syndicates and services

  • Reference Shelf — word references, style manuals, grammar usage, fact books, geographical maps, debunking pages, encyclopedias, biographical information, news photos, news services and syndicates, name & phone directories, time, statistics and layout & design.
  • Search Engines — if you want to dig deeper than Google.
  • Networking — both collegiate and professional media groups.
  • Criticism — sites devoted to keeping the Fourth Estate in check.
  • Job Ops — job listings, trends, resources and internships for the journalism profession.
  • Southern Compendium — media, culture, business, education, A&E and sports information around the South.
  • Wisdom & Other Fine Quotations — quotes of interest since 1987.
  • Federal Government — the Executive Branch, Legislative Branch, Judicial Branch and, most importantly, the Bill of Rights.
  • State Government — governments of Southern states, primarily due to travels and interests.

Find out more about Sitton in a nutshell. The portfolio gathers his published work, while fodder gathers his thoughts prior to his blogging. He social networks via facebook and occasionally blogs at The Southerner Journal with Glynn Wilson of The Locust Fork, though he doesn't seem to get around to breaking news as Wilson does. But news sticks to Wilson like lint sticks to a suit.
